The Irish Water Spaniel is the tallest spaniel breed, developed in Ireland to retrieve ducks in water hunting. It is unique for its waterproof curly coat and hairless "rat tail"; it is an agile and hardy water dog.
Appearance and Coat
It has a large, athletic and muscular body and a characteristic curly "topknot" on its head. Its waterproof, tightly curled coat is liver-colored; it sheds little but requires regular grooming and clipping. The tail is hairless.
